About Naomi

My journey with Westies began in 1996, when I rescued a stray West Highland White Terrier found in a mall parking lot. We called him Toto. He was scruffy, stubborn, and completely charming, and by the time he had settled into our home I knew this was my breed for life.

Wanting to learn everything I could, I purchased my first show dog from Nancy Schoch of Windsong Westies. At Montgomery in 1999 I met Sue Thomson of the Ashgate Kennel in England, whose dogs I had long admired. The following year my late husband Carl and I traveled to England to purchase my first Ashgate girl.

In 2006 I attended the West Highland White Terrier Club of England Special Celebration Championship Show in Dumfries, Scotland. That same year Sue honored me by granting me the Ashgate US affix, entrusting me to carry the Ashgate name in America. It remains one of the proudest moments of my life in dogs.

Health and temperament always come first here. Our dogs are family before they are show dogs, and our puppies go to homes that feel the same way.

I am a member of the West Highland White Terrier Club of England, the Ladies Dog Club, and the West Highland White Terrier Club of America, and I serve on the boards of the WHWT Club of New England and the Westie Foundation of America.
